Here is Sally Hill's rendition of how

"Living From the Live of Christ Bible Study" Started:

"We moved from Lima, Ohio to Sandusky, Ohio with a vision for a new and different future.  We had one vision in mind and God had another.

Thanks to the example of my saintly grandmother, I had been a committed Christian from the day of my salvation, but something was missing in my 17 year walk with the Lord.  God in His faithfulness answered my plea for peace and consistency in my heart and life. He brought me in contact with someone in whom He had already worked His revelation of power and freedom of Christ within.  That person became my pastor's wife in Sandusky (Darlene Betzer). As I began to share my frustration with my "roller coaster" Christian life experience, Darlene began to pout into me the revelation she had received many years previous.  She would pour out God's truth of the Indwelling Christ hour after hour.

One such session was exceptionally heavy and perplexing to me.  (Remember, the understanding of the Indwelling Christ who is our life, only comes as a revelation by the Holy Spirit.)  I went home from that "session" and fell to my knees and cried out to God.  "God, I don't know what Darlene is talking about when she talks about 'living from the life of Christ,' but I don't think I am doing it."  God immediately showed me a huge pile of unconfessed sins.  This was a pile of what we might label "little sins," i.e., losing my temper, being upset with my husband, holding a grudge, unforgiveness, etc.  I ran down the list, asking God to forgive me.  All of a sudden, it seemed so clear that I could not know Jesus like Darlene knew Him, with an unclean heart.

It may have been the next day or a few days later - I am not sure.  But I woke up and the Holy Spirit prompted me to turn to Romans Chapters 6 , 7 and 8.  I opened my Bible and began to read those chapters with the clarity that only the Holy Spirit can bring to your soul.  Although scholars have debated and continue to debate all the meaning on those great verses, I received to my spirit that day what God would have me know - and it transformed my life.  It was in that brief few minutes, that God revealed to me the true meaning of salvation - Christ in you - in me.

I began immediately to speak and teach and share the revelation I had received.  Shortly after that I was asked to speak to over 300 women at a Women's Conference in Ohio.  Only God could have orchestrated that.  And, of course, I shared with great authority (knowing Christ brings that) all that God had revealed to me of His life in the believer.

I don't remember how much time passed after that, but one day when I was praying, God told me through His Holy Spirit that He wanted me to begin to write down the truths He had taught me.  His speaking was very clear and I had no doubt.  I had every intention to do what God had said, but did not obey right away.  As always, that was a mistake!  Sometime later, Darlene called me from Springfield, Missouri where she and her husband had moved. She was involved in a women's Bible study and asked me if I would write down the principles God had shown me on living from the life of Christ.  Surprise! Surprise!  The catch was that she needed them almost immediately!  If I had obeyed the Lord when He first spoke to me, what transpired would not have been necessary.

I was delighted to put this wonderful liberating truth in writing.  As I presented myself to the Lord for this project, He gave me the entire outline, which resulted in the first edition of Living From the Life of Christ.  I did not vary His outline, but followed it as He gave it.  In order to keep my commitment to Darlene, I had to write one chapter a week, have it proofed, retyped (no computer was available then) printed and sent by overnight delivery from Ohio to Missouri.  Since I worked a 40 hour a week job, I had to work all day and wrote all night.  Many times, I would just be getting in bed for a couple hours rest when my husband was getting up.  Those long night and early morning hours spent with the Lord, pouring over my Bible, were incredibly precious as He led me through His outline and made it come alive on paper,.  When I would get "stuck," I would just stop and pray and then proceed, expecting the Holy Spirit to lead - and, He did.

There was one week that I will never forget.  No matter how hard I tried or how much I prayed, there was nothing in my mind or spirit to put down on paper.  I stopped and spent time in prayer, I cried, I talked to my husband about my frustration, but all to no avail.  One night, I told the Lord that this was His project and if He wanted something to get sent to Missouri, He would have to do it, I was going to bed! By this time, it was late in the week and I had nothing to send to Darlene, who, I thought, was waiting to receive it so she could teach it that next week.  I finally broke down and called her (that was a big deal since, at that time, I did not have money to make a long distance call.)  She said something like, "Oh, I am sorry, I though the Lord would let you know that we are not having Bible study this week, so I won't need the next lesson until next week."  Wouldn't it have been something if I had enough pure faith in the Lord to have figured that out?  After all, it was His project and He was not supplying!  Amazing!  It would have been nice to get some sleep that weekend.  What a sermon I could preach right now!

Since those days, the Living From the Life of Christ Bible Study has gone around the world.  It has been translated in at least two languages and has undergone two updates as the Lord has continued to unveil to my spirit deeper truths of the Christ life.  The Life of Christ studies continue to be shipped out from Missouri and Florida First Assembly on a regular basis.  Testimonies of how God uses this study - His study - to transform lives by revealing the truth of the risen Christ living in the Believer continue in a steady stream.
